STEP 2: Prepare Supporting Documents

Proof of Finances

Turkish Lira On the visa application form you will have to state who is financing your stay in Turkey and you will need to submit supporting documentation to verify this. An original bank statement plus a photocopy showing your current financial standing should be sufficient. If your parents are going to finance your trip, ask them to write a letter stating that they are prepared to support you for the duration of your stay. This should be addressed “To whom it may concern”, and will need to state exactly how much money your parents will contribute to funding you during your time away. The letter must be accompanied by an original bank statement(s), which covers the specified amount.

Passport

UK passport

Your passport must be valid for 1 year from the date of your entry into Turkey. So, if you start your semester in February 2008, your passport must be valid until February 2009. You must enter your passport number, expiry date and place of issue on your visa application form. Therefore, if your passport is not valid for the required amount of time, you will need to renew it BEFORE you apply for your visa.
