HOW TO ENSURE YOU GET CREDIT AT HOME FOR THE COURSES YOU TAKE ABROAD
What is a Transcript?
A transcript is an official record of the grades that you
receive whilst away. Your Academic Adviser at your home university will use your
transcript of grades to translate your marks. You may need to order and pay for
your transcript to be sent to your home institution. You'll need to check what
the procedure is with the International Office BEFORE YOU LEAVE. Your home university
cannot order transcripts for you, and without one you will not receive any credit
for the courses you took overseas. If you have any outstanding bills - no matter
how small - your transcript will be withheld and you will not be able to progress
with your degree.
Submitting Overseas Assessments to your Home University
You may need to submit copies of the work you completed abroad
to your home university. Your Academic Adviser may need to review the work you
have undertaken, in conjunction with your transcript of grades, in order to
convert your marks. If you are required to submit your assessed work, make sure
that you provide a copy of the course syllabus, so that your tutor at home will
have a clear idea of what you did. Presentation is important, so make sure all
of your work is clearly labelled and ordered according to which courses you
took. You may be penalised if you do not include all of the required information.
Check with your Study Abroad Adviser as to when your assessed work is due in
and be sure to hand it in by the deadline.
